AnonymousGuestI have been progressively adding in Longevity Breathing techniques to my practice and sometimes find my attention being divided between correct breathing and the particular area I am focusing on for example hips. Any thoughts?

AnonymousGuestI’ve spent quite a long time on the Longevity Breathing as well as other breathing techniques I learned from Bruce. I did a weekend seminar in breathing and meditation several years ago that made a big impact on my practice. However, I’ve decided to follow Bruce’s instructions in this meditation circle as closely as possible. So I’m allowing my breathing to be as natural as possible, not trying to manipulate it at all, except to allow it to be deep, smooth, and long. That way, I just really focus on the specific practice method in the instructions. I’ll be interested to see what the instructions for part 2 of the practice entail.

AnonymousGuestThanks Matthew, your insight seems to make sense. I’ll save the longevity breathing for a separate exercise or work it in with chi gung.
Cheers,

AnonymousGuestI too at some point thought that longevity breathing would be a good addition to the practice. So I deviated from the practice for a few days to try and integrate it within the practice. That worked before for stopping the count in the head to counting with the fingers.
After a few sessions though, it was clear that longevity breathing needed some dedicated practice before I could incorporate it within the meditation sessions, so now I quit that. I try to focus now on the instructions and follow the program, which is challenging enough. Maybe at some later stage the two can be fused.
