I have never done qigong before and there are no Energy Arts Instructors in my area – Cleveland, Ohio.

So I’ll be doing this on my own. I’m not the most coordinated either. I looked at Bruce’s Dragon and Tiger book from the library and could not follow from the still pictures.

So what do I start with? The DT dvd? or is there a dvd for opening of the gates.

Also, I’ve looked on the web site for a return policy – like if I order a dvd and can’t get it, can I return it? I asked this question twice in the “contact us” form and never got an answer.

That aside, I REALLY need some guidance here for a newbie who will be learning this on his own.

    many thanks.

First off , thanks for the post. I love commenting on Dragon and Tiger or Energy Gates.

I still consider myself a beginner in the grand scheme of things but heres my two cents:

Ive got both DT book and DVD. At first I learned from the book then got the dvd. I found the book to be a great help as I looked at some of the DT videos on youtube to make sure I was roughly on the right track.
The dvd offers an indepth break down of each move as well and you see it with a live model putting it all together piece by piece and then the full set as well as an advanced set with Bruce.
I find the book and dvd compliment eachother and if you are as unfortunate as me to not have an energy arts nearby then the combo is the way to go.
I think if you are having difficulties with the still pictures then you would probably have an easier time with the dvd.
As far as I know there is not an Energy Gates DVD available ( I would get one for sure if there was one).
If I were you I would give energy arts a call and speak with someone directly.

Thanks for the opportunity to share,
    Kevin

    Thank you Kevin for sharing.

Have you done the opening of the gates?
I just would like to know which to “start with”.

I did see that EA has a CD for the Gates routine.

    I appreciate your comments.

    Hi Mark,

I started with dragon tiger chi gung and practiced it regularly on its own for a year before starting energy gates. I found that DT was fairly easy to learn (with practice and patience of course) and can quickly give you a sense of chi.
When I began energy gates I practiced sinking for 2 or 3 months and still cannot honestly say that I have been able to sink or scan chi successfully enough to begin outer dissolving.
Ive been continously working on sinking and have been learning the other movements along the way.
I dont have the cd and feel that there is plenty of info packed into the book. The biggest hurdle for me has been sinking chi. Ive been searching far and wide for different perspectives on the sinking, scanning, dissolving but have not yet got it. I have a feeling that it is just one of those things you have to work at to get right; Im sure that its well worth it.
    Enjoy,

    Kevin
