Hi All , just got DVDs so far impressive stuff ! Yet although i get basic idea of body posture … it is opening up energy channels i’am have issues with :-(
What i get is open lower channels of legs first via. down spine tuck the butt (open kwa) and send down to feet !
this causes chi to rise into lower Tan Tein
Next from top head down and out through arms to fingers , through middle Tan Tein into lower Tan Tein … draw chi into
lower Tan Tein until feel it need to release !
Next send chi out feet , hands top of head now hold posture !
can anyone tell me if this is correct … its not like microcosmic orbit are opening up the 8 channels , it seems to run different
    coures !
    Thank You
    Erich

    Hi Erich,

When you’re just getting started with these postures, don’t worry too much about gates, channels, and procedures for this or that sequence. Instead, it’s really helpful to focus on physical alignment, relaxation, and feeling into the body.

Over time, as the mind settles in and you’ve got a good feel for what’s there physically, the energetics start to open up. In neigong, the energy can’t move well unless there’s an open physical container for it.

    Hope that helps!

    Hi Erich,

It’s easy not to pay attention to it, but early in the DVDs, Bruce says that all the body alignments that are taught in “Opening the Energy Gates of the Body” must be done when you do standing postures. A bit later, he mentions in passing that the basic standing posture taugt in “Energy Gates” has the goal of sinking the boy’s energy down to the feet, which is a necessary preparation before doing hand postures.

I think this is one of those cases when Bruce says something that’s extremely important at the beginning of a program without making any fuss about it so many people just miss it : before you go into standing postures, you need a solid foundation in the standing work of “Opening the Energy Gates”.

Once you have that, all the beginning sequence you describe (opening the legs and sinking the chi to the ground, then it comes back to the Tantien, then you do the upper body, then upper and lower body at the same time) becomes pretty simple and straightforward (and very powerful!).

Just my 2 cents, hope it helps ;-)
