AnonymousGuestDoes anybody know in which lesson Bruce mentions something like “messed up tai chi form”? I think he spoke there about doing the form in a very relaxed manner, not so much looking on doing it correct but with more focus on relaxation.
I can´t find the place and I don´t have the time at the moment to look trough all lessons.June 19, 2013 at 11:00 pm #133448

I don’t know what cd it is, but I remember bruce showing us this at a taiji seminar. I really dug it.
practice the movements but instead of focusing on the alignment (metal) just let everything relax and flow (water).
personally I had a lot of misalignments, so my movement was pretty awful looking, but it was very helpful in terms of allowing the movement, and it helped me to improve my alignments over time by helping me become aware of them.
I continue to use this practice, both personally and in my teaching, and it’s a great way to loosen up a practice session, sometimes you get too focused on doing it “right”, a little screwup taiji helps loosen up your expectations and judgements as well as your tissue.hope this helps

AnonymousGuestHi Richard,
yes, thank you – that helps. It sounds like what I have in my head what Bruce could have said there. I think the art in this is not to get too spaced out(but he said it on another place then where he mentioned spacing out).
Your answer was right on the point for me.
