    Dear Friends,

While practising the circle walking my muscles get stiff, the faster I go the stiffer. For the time I keep doing it slowly.

It appears to me that specifically the “Musculus flexor digitorum longus” seems to be affected; a muscle leading somehow to the big toe. The right big toe also shows some horny skin.

Any suggestions how to relax the lower leg muscles?

    Best regards,

    Michael

    Michael,

I do a lot of driving and have the same problem with stiff legs, plenty of stretching and bagua warm up exercises before I circle walk generally does the trick, i also get bodywork done once a month which also helps to relieve tension all over.

    regards,

    Craig

    Hi Michael,
If you’re not familiar with Bruce’s, Opening the Energy Gates, I think it could possibly be useful for this problem. I use it as part of my warm-up, and also between walking sets to get out some of the stiffness that develops. The practices of Cloud Hands and the three different sets of Swing exercises taught in OEG work well to open up and exercise the kwa. Plus it benefits the twisting/spiraling practice we are learning to develop and helps us improve our ability to root better.
    Practice well,
    Steve
