I have found that along with being able to get through ten breaths more easily and more focused, I am now losing focus after ten and before I start my next round of ten. In the audio, Bruce mentions to take a moment after ten before starting again, and I have found that this momentary break has turned into a buffer between counting sessions that tends to have less focus and awareness than during the counting. I am a bit confused as to the purpose of the space between ten and one. If we can just go right from ten to our next round starting at one, why stop and regroup. I understand that, if necessary, a break to regroup can be useful, but if the focus and awareness are there, why not just go straight from ten to one?

……..a moment isn’t a space, and doesn’t need to be a break, from my perspective it’s a moment’s reminder to stay present

For me, the moment between 10 and 1 is just a realization: ok im gonna start over. unlike the counting from 1 to 10 which just naturally flows from one to the next. its a different quality of awareness, more purposive, less passive.

At first I used this space to close my hands to begin the whole process over and I had to concentrate on that because it was difficult to count with my fingers instead of doing a mental count. But since the finger counting is now nearly effortless that space has become a moment when I have the feeling of a great open space. I also have found that I loose myself in this space sometimes. I don’t have thoughts come up and I’m quite sure how to describe it other than a wide open space.

I think Ive had a similar experience to yours as you describe open space. Few and far between but the experience feels right.
