I just had a realization that Bagua is putting the whole art in the palm of your hand. For example, the movements of the organs is linked to the hand. The index finger is the spine. The bone marrow links to the central canal. The palm sinks as the kidneys are filled and they drop to the lower tan tien. The slight bend of the last knuckle of the fingers is linked to the absorption in the spleen. The balance of fire and water links to the rising and sinking in the heart and kidneys, etc., etc.
I’ll post more on this as I piece it together.
One thing I didn’t want to forget: Sinking the wrist is about the kidneys dropping to the lower tan tien. The dropping of the elbows is about lifting the heart (and the spine). These are important balanced opposites.
It is actually a more than just the hand. The goal is to link the same movement to hand, the foot, the organs, the spine, and the extremities. They all unify – big and small.
