Hi, Holly. Keeping the eyes open during meditation is the preferable way, at least that is what I have heard Bruce say before. He does not specify for this course, so I assume it’s up to the individual. I am doing it with my eyes open, since I’ve been meditating for about 14 years, and have had a hard time trying to change that habit, from closed to open. So I figured I should just start this course with them open, and if I just do it from the beginning it will be easier for me to break the habit.
But this may be very difficult for anyone who’s a beginner. My personal feeling is that anything is better than getting frustrated and quitting, so if it seems too hard for anyone to do this material with eyes open, it’s probably okay to close them. Again, since Bruce hasn’t commented one way or the other, this is just my personal opinion.
Good observation with the eyes moving to the left! Interesting. I don’t think anyone needs to worry about being behind the rest of the group, it seems like everyone is starting at different times. Happy practicing!
