    Hello,

I just started doing Xing Yi and would like to inquire about the postures (San Ti and the five elements). Is it wise to practice the postures of the five elements at once or should I focus on Pi Quan (San Ti) for a year then move onto the next element?

I’d like to add that I have a weak liver and was intrigued when Bruce stated that Beng Quan is good for the liver.

Hi, I think Bruce answers your question in the course itself (Hsing – I Mastery Program). The basic holding posture is San Ti. Ideally you would do this for some time before moving on. Here you study and embody the alignments, strengthen your spine, unify your body among others. You need to have this foundation for the other elements/fists. About your question about the liver – I don’t know whether it’s wise to go there quicker.

Really whatever it takes to keep training. If you get bored, go on and learn some more. If you are enjoying focusing on one area, stick to that. The ideal would be to do everything in the right order, but it’s more important to keep inspired and excited about training.
