Hey everybody! I’ve been really busy with school lately, and have taken my practice kind of slow, so although I got all of my installment #2 materials on schedule, I just want to make sure I have everything that I’m supposed to.

Looking at the table of contents in module 4, I’ve got:

Section 1: Overview of Bagua Energy Pasnures (and the subheadings)

Section 2: Energy Arts Twelve Posture Set (and the subheadings)

Section 3: Learning Progression- Levels 1-4 of training ( subheadings)

Section 4: Learning Progression- Levels 5-12 ( subheadings)

    Appendix 1: Martial Applications ( subheadings}

Now all of the texts corresponds to it up until there, and after that is where I got confused.

In the first installment, there was a module-by-module outline of what was what, and it said module 4 would have the first 4 static arm postures. While the DVD’s seem to discuss the postures, I don’t see them mentioned anywhere in the written text. Should there be?

On top of that, even in module 4 it says the single palm posture won’t be introduced until module 5, but in mine it’s at the end of module 4! Not mentioned in the module 4 table of contents. I see, however, that there is a title page which says Module 5, but all of the headers say module 4. I’m not concerned about heading typos, I just want to make sure I got all of the content.

After the martial applications of module 4, I’ve got Module 4: Bagua Applications: Tai Chi- Shifting Weight from the back to the front leg, with some subheadings which all correspond to the text.

Then Module 4 meditations 1-3, all correspond to text.

Hopping on over to module 5, I got:

Section 1: Single Palm Change and subheadings

Section 2: Important Alignment Principles and subheadings

    Section 3: Practice the posture

    Appendix 1 Martial applications

    All correspond with text.

Then Module 5 Bagua Applications- Twisting and Coiling Silk in Tai Chi. All still correspond to text.

    Module 5- intermediate meditation 3 part 4

Then module 6- Bagua Dragon Body

Section 1: Developing the dragon body subheadings- all correspond to text

Section 2: Circle Walking as Spiritual Practice

Section 3: Moving chi while walking the circle

    All correspond to text

Module 6 Creating an elastic body- all good

Module 6 Intermediate meditation 4 parts 1-3 also all there

    And then that’s it.

Sorry for the long list, I tried to go page by page as I typed this, but might have skipped something along the way, though may have skipped something somewhere along the way.

Is this what everyone else got? Is this what we were all supposed to get? I noticed the stack of papers was a lot thinner than in the first installment- but the first installment also had a lot of ice to break. I also understand that on the production end, things may change, and the overall outline presented in the first module might be subject to change. But I’m just hoping to get all the content that’s needed to make good training progress.

Still incredibly happy with the bagua mastery program material, the decision to get on board with it was one of the best decisions in my life!

Your outline follows mine. In my packet, I found Mod 5 Single Palm Change *before* the divider for Module 5. I think it was just put in the wrong place when collated. You’re correct about the headers: they do say Module 4, but should probably be Module 5. If you go back and look at the introductory material we received with the first installment, Section 2 What You’ll Learn, lists the content of the modules with SPC in Mod 5. The contents of the DVDs are a little misleading because they include all 12 postures, while the text and audio only covers the first 8. I think the DVDs are meant as a reference and we’re supposed to follow the learning sequence in the text. It’s understandable that it’s a little hard to organize: there’s such a tremendous volume of information. I think Bruce has done a really good job of reducing this complex subject to a logical learning sequence.

I am also very happy with the program. I find the audio materials especially helpful for my own situation. I have never used such comprehensive and thorough materials for any other martial art of meditative practice I’ve studied. I’ve studied Bruce’s system for 10 years now and I’m constantly impressed with how thorough and complete it is. While he has refined many things, the core teachings have never changed. Studying his meditation system, tai chi, and bagua, it all hangs together. Each sub-discipline reinforces each of the other practices. Truly amazing.

Let me know if this answers your questions.

    Thanks Matthew!

I know what you mean about using the videos and stuff as reference. There’s a lot of material that I sort of “grow into” after a while. That’s another thing I like about the program- the first couple times I skip over stuff, but after a couple of months I know what’s being talked about, and I can start to do it myself.

I also agree that the material is organized and packaged really wonderfully.

I’m happy to know that I’m not missing out on anything. Thanks!

If anyone’s interested, I’ve created a “table of contents” for each of the modules and the DVDs. I didn’t do it for the audio files since you can see those easily after you put them on your Mp3 player. But since the DVDs didn’t come with the contents listed in either the packaging or in the text, and since there’s no overall table of contents for the text, I created Word files for each of these. Maybe I’m being a little too mental about it, but having the big picture helps me organize my understanding of what’s there and then I can organize my practice better. Since we can’t put HTML tags in these posts (and I assume that means attachments as well) if anyone wants these I’d have to email them to your regular email account.

I’d also want to be sure this is OK with Energy Arts… Not sure how to check that.

    @ Matthew:

Great idea Matthew! I, also, like to have a “big picture” view – helps me with the assimilation of large amounts of information.

If it IS OK to do this – I’d like a copy of the overall Table of Contents. Perhaps a Forum Moderator will comment on this.

    All the best….

Hey Matthew, I am interested in your table of contents for the DVD’s as well. I started that process, but yours is already complete so if you can pass it on with Energy Arts blessing, then Thanks in advance!
The program is awesome and filled with valued material to last for years of study.
Thanks again and Thank You Bruce for making this available.

    Christopher
