AnonymousGuestI live in Anchorage Alaska and have attended the Oriental Healing Arts Center. I took an instructor class in the Tradition of Tai Chi 10. I was introduced to Taoist Meditation in the class. My goal is to really learn it on a deeper level and, hopefully, I’d like to be an instructor. I hope to meet others in this forum who may have a similar goal.

AnonymousGuestHi! I just signed up a couple days ago. I’ve been studying with Bruce for about 14 years now. I’ve been doing his Taoist Meditation for awhile, but I’m very excited about getting to start all over again and see what I’ve missed. I live in Statton, Maine – it’s probably similar to Alaska, but with smaller mountains. I know a couple of other people who have signed up, who have been studying with Bruce. I’m sure there will be more members surfacing this week!

AnonymousGuestI’m glad to see someone else has signed onto the forum. It was by accident that I found Bruce’s website and received a notice about this Taoist Meditation Circle. I haven’t been at this very long so I’m looking forward to learning more. So where is Stratton, Maine? I looked it up but I’m not familiar with Maine. Looks like a good place for people to visit and get outdoors. I’m actually from Pennsylvania, but moved to Alaska during the territorial days, before Alaska became a state.

AnonymousGuestHello,
I am in the UK I was studying in London doing classes up until 2006 then when those classes ended, I continued practicing myself. I have been working with Bruce’s books and the Tao of letting go CD’s but over the last few years have let my practice slip. When I heard about the meditation circle I signed up straight away as I have been wanting to get back on track and deepen my understanding and experience with meditation. I am also aiming to get to a level where I can instruct others so that they can gain benefit from this practice, I have gained so much over the years and have found it to be a really healing experience for me and I want very much to share this with others.

AnonymousGuestStratton is in the northwest corner of Maine, so it’s sort of equidistant from the border of Canada and New Hampshire. There are several ski areas up here, and a lot of outdoor activities – hiking, fishing, snowmobiling, etc. Lots of wilderness, few people. Good for meditating. Has anybody else started the practice? I’m sure there will be people starting at various points, it seems like a flexible enough system so that everyone doesn’t have to start at exactly the same time…

AnonymousGuestHi:
I signed up a few days ago. Having made several attempts to learn meditation practices and making little progress over the years, I thought I would give this a solid effort. I started my first week’s practice two days ago and like the way the material begins with the most basic approach. I am also in the Bagua Mastery Program and am enjoying it very much.

AnonymousGuestI live on Vancouver Island, in British Columbia, Canada. The timing of this program was perfect. Ive been meditating regularly for about 6 months with the aid of Bruce’s books and cd’s. Im committed to daily meditation practice as well as Dragon & Tiger Chi Gung which Ive been learning over the past year.
Im absolutely stoked on Bruce’s style and the authenticity of his teachings. I look forward to learning as much as I can from this program and everyone involved.February 16, 2011 at 6:38 pm #130544
AnonymousGuestHi everyone. I have been practicing Yang style tai chi, qi gong and standing meditation for approximately three years, and I currently also practice hsing-i and yoga. I have tried various meditation styles and classes near where I live, but I have always found Taoist meditative practices to be the most beneficial for me. I am looking forward to deepening my meditative practice through the Taoist Meditation Circle.

AnonymousGuestHi,
I found Bruce’s website a little under three years ago, and I’ve been using his cd’s and books for self study as well as attending some taoist meditation seminars. I really like this method and even though i’ve mostly been on my own, I’m seeing a lot of good results. I’m glad this thing started up, so I can have a more thourough exposure to this. I’m also excited about this forum, so I can see how other people are coming along and what insights and questions come up that could help me or I could help to answer.

AnonymousGuestHello All,
I’m David from Blanco, Texas. I’ve read Bruce’s material for several years, and have practiced Buddhist Meditation for a good while. I’ve listened to the “Letting Go” tape series, and I’m looking forward to learning Taoist Meditation and continuing on with the inner dissolving practice.February 21, 2011 at 4:59 pm #130547
AnonymousGuestHey Everybody,
I’m really glad ahschmook started this thread. It is really beneficial to me to have a little introduction from everyone. It helps me feel connected. Which is part of my motivation for joining this group.
I’ve studied Wu Tai Chi, Dragon Tiger, Opening the Energy Gates and Longevity Breathing for about 6 years now with my friend and Energy Arts Instructor Oliver Wilson, at a couple of weekend retreats with Bruce in Portland Oregon and for the last year or so on my own.
I live in Eugene, OR and began Yang Tai Chi at a local school to connect to with a community after Oliver moved to Tucson. I was thrilled when I received the email about this meditation group. I had recently spoken with my Yang style instructor about whether they teach or practice meditation through their lineage. He cautioned me about the traps and dangers of meditation. Just as I was becoming discouraged, the Energy Arts notice arrived.
Along with the tai chi and chi gung practices, I have focused my meditation practice on the inner dissolving with support from books and recordings of Bruce’s. I have also worked with a particular style of chakra meditation and the meditation style of Adyashanti. Over the years I have varied my focus on each of these techniques based on where I am and what feels most appropriate for what I’m working with at that moment in my life.
I’m pleased to meet each of you and look forward to the coming months in a supportive community.

AnonymousGuestThis seems to be the introduction thread. I’ve studied Wm Chen’s Yang style Taiji for nearly 4 years. Also do 8 brocades and a mantra meditation daily. This program sounds very interesting, tho. I read Opening the Energy Gates and was a little vague on the dissolving thing.
I presume this started in early February. Not sure how to pack 4 weeks into the few remaining days until March. I guess it will all even out.
Nice to meet everyone and hope it’s a great experience for all.

AnonymousGuestHi, Kevin! EA said that enrollment was going to continue, so I guess people will be starting at all different times. I’m sort of assuming that the group doesn’t necessarily need to stay together – people who start late can just post any questions they have about earlier week’s lessons. It would be hard to catch up for anyone, especially someone new to meditation, if they started in say, mid-March… I like the fact that this is designed so you can go at your own pace and not miss out on anything.
