    Hi Paul

Thanks for the information. I will definitely keep an eye on the schedule for this coming year as it would be great to have an event happen in Australia.

I live in Kentucky and have read a couple of Bruce’s books.
I’ve been working on the Taoist Meditation Circle for just four or five weeks now and am making a serious pursuit of it.
I’ve practiced yoga and qi gung for many many years now and just can’t seem to stick with anything. I guess it is the western need for instant gratification that keeps sneaking up on me but maybe this time since I am retired and able to fit it into my daily routines more easily. Looking forward to chatting with y’all since this helps a lot to link up with like minds.

    Late Introduction

I have enrolled but have not been practicing the meditations yet, as I have also been in the Ba Gua program and got the Hsing-I, Dragon & Tiger and Energy Gates materials as well. Only so much time!

My plan is to build a more solid, less distracting physical and energy base from which to work before embarking on the meditation work. I am willing to go slow at this point, as I have gotten ahead of myself (more head knowledge than ability) more than once. In general, I find Bruce’s materials to be very humbling, as there is so much he talks about that I cannot do or am not sure I have experienced!!! Only the intellectual knowledge, which won’t buy me a cup of coffee.

My background is one of Internal/External Martial Art – Aikido, Meditation -4 styles studied: Zen, Transcendental, Vipassana and Shambhala. I don’t consider myself a dabbler, but life has moved me from one to the others at various junctures, often “by accident”. Although the instruction was good at the time, I find Bruce’s books and materials have answered so many questions and provided a firmer path on which to tread.

I also have an energy-healing background in Polarity Therapy and am a Licensed Chiropractor & Health Coach in Minnesota.

    Hi all,

My name is Jan, I’m a (nearing) 48 year old male from Belgium. I have been interested in Taoism since I was a kid. I’ve got Bruce’s books Opening the Energy Gates and Relaxing into your being.
I am an ordained Zen lay practitioner, and found a renewed interest in Taoism since finding out that Ch’an originally contained Taoist practises. Since I like old style things, I started studying Taoism again. Joined the Meditation Circle to get a structured way into meditation (something I miss with Zen).

    Hi everyone,

I live in South Florida and started taking the Tao Te Ching course and decided to take the Taoist meditation course since I have a great deal of trouble meditating using only books. My goal is to be able to meditate daily and to become a better Taoist. I look forward to meeting others in this life venture.

New member here, so just my initial post. I found Energy arts some time ago, and finally decided to join up in the hopes of finding a place to share experiences and insight. I am interested in and have practiced different forms of meditation, but am particularly keen on Taoist meditation practice so that is what drew me to this circle. I hope that my time here will help create a more solid foundation for what is a life time pursuit for me. I am deeply interested in particular with practices pertaining to Nei Kung and inner transformation, specifically the Taoist immortality practices. However, I know the first step is to build a solid foundation and this seems like the best place I have yet come across to start.

New member here – first post here in a little while I see!
I’m Simon . I live in London UK.

A key interest of mine has been nature awareness and ‘wilderness’ skills . I’ve come to realise how much Daoist philosophy and practice has to offer in that regard. Some very deep understandings of nature.

I initially didn’t have any interest in eastern practices as I felt one should study the spiritual practices native to one’s own culture. So this meant studying the whole troubled area of Hermeticism, Heathenism and magic etc. However, despite myself I have gone away from that and keep ending up back to Daoist approaches. I still value those western approaches, despite the problems they have run into at a cultural level- but there’s only so many hours in the day!

I have about 2 and a half years experience in various meditation practices – somewhat haphazard apart from a solid year in Hermetic Qabalist techniques. I’m now ready to commit to one structured and coherent approach for an extended period of time.

It looks like this course is going to exceed my expectations: I’m particularly enthusiastic about the way Daoist practices include the whole body. Up to this point I have done about a year of daily practice of zhan zhuang standing qigong with a teacher- along with a few other brief qigongs like swimming dragon and Ba duan jan. That all helped me realise this particular obsession wasn’t going away any-time soon!

My dream is to become both a certified wilderness skills guide AND certified qigong instructor – after many many many more hours of training that is!

Hi all. Im not very internet savvy so the only way i have found of ‘posting’ on this ‘thread’ is by what it tells me is replying to Andrea Scmooks comment.
The first and only time i trained with Bruce was about 10 years ago. Since then i have attended about five of Paul Cavel’s seminars. Overall my experiences with these practices have been humbling and fairly difficult and until recently i didn’t know why. But recently through some therapy and my own process of self-inquiry it has become apparent that i have been grappling with the effects of trauma most of my life. Much of what i have learned has led me to downsize my expectations and what i hope to ‘get’ out of this.
This has led me to Bruce’s meditative practices and away from the movement practices because the difficulties mentioned above have frequently thwarted my tai-chi etc. For me, i think, mindfullness, longevity breathing etc will help me overcome the obstacles to practice at their source and be a valuable end in themselves.

Hello, I live in West Linn, OR. I discovered Bruce on Youtube from his interview with ConsciousTV. I’ve been practicing insight meditation a little over a month, but I thought this felt closer to the direction I want to go with meditation. So, I’m giving this a go while continuing my insight meditation/mindfulness practices. Also, testing the water of Qi Gong, seems beneficial.

I’m very happy to join this Circle. I’m originally from Poland, but have been living in London for the past 5 years. I’m in my final year of the Alexander Technique teacher training. I have an experience of Qigong in other traditions, but would like to explore the Taoist Water tradition as a complete system. My current practice focus is on Breathing & Meditation.
