    Hi,

after the latest release of the follow along online videos for the Bagua Mastery Program I hoped that the Tai Chi Mastery Program would include follow along videos right from the beginning. I have to say that the online bagua videos were a great learning help and tremendously speeded up the learning process. I think that it is necessary to separate the educational from the practice and demonstration parts in the videos and include special follow along or demonstration chapters. In my opinion separate practice and demonstration videos are actually necessary in addition to the educational videos. In the Bagua Mastery Program for example it was a great help to see Bruce demonstrate the Single Palm Change without Interruption.

If the DVDs do not contain such demonstration or follow along chapters it would be really appreciated if you could do something similar to the online demonstration videos of the Bagua Mastery Program.

That said I am very happy with the content of the Tai Chi Mastery Program so far. But as you can see from several of my posts, the demonstration or follow along parts of the videos is where I see room for improvement (the educational part is already excellent).

I assume that I am not the only one seeing it this way.

Thank you. I knew those videos. If you compare them to the Bagua videos you will see that those videos are not quite what I meant.

I’m missing these kind of video’s as well. My understanding is that the structures of Bagua and Taiji programs are different. In the Bagua program, Bruce introduced a number of warm up exercises and integrative exercises. I found those exercises very helpful. I understand there are no such exercises in the Taiji program. So there are no follow up videos.
I still need some additional / solo exercises to compliment the form training. So far I have found Circling Hands (can be found in the Paul Cavel web site) and Cloud hands (from EG) the best. I also use whatever Dan Kleiman offers in his workouts and I’m finding Dan’s exercises very helpful.
But you are right, some additional videos would help a lot.

Yes. I agree that a follow along video would be very handy. It would also help overcome the feeling of isolation where you are training by yourself as it would give the ‘feel’ of being in a class situation following the instructor or senior student on the corner.

Could not agree more regarding the “feel” of being in a class situation. In this regard the audios of the Bagua Masters Program were not bad.

    Hi,

are there any news regarding the follow along videos? If I remember correctly I read somewhere that the members of the mastdry programs would get access to additional follow along videos with audio commentary from Bruce. I would really appreciate that.

    Hi Dirk,

We are close to finishing the full form with a Voice-over from Bruce about where the opening and closings happen within the form. We will also add the Tai Chi Circling Hands Early next month as a NEW Bonus per Bruce’s request and that will have some follow along exercises as well.

Should be within a week’s time for the demo with voice-over.

The EA team and Bruce are aligned with you. Our focus is to present the material in a way that it is most useful to those learning. As you can see there is a lot of information in here and many more movements than bagua. With bagua we focused on just the single palm change so it was a little easier.

    Thanks,

    RIchard

Thank you Richard I really appreciate that. If I were not such a huge fan of Bruce`s work and would not profit so immensely as I do from it I would not spend time writing were there might be room for improvement. But I do care because the material provided is very, very good. Please do not take it is as criticism when I point certain things out.
