    I’m from the Denver metro area. I’ve just ready the Tao of Meditation Vol 1. I’m doing the standing practice and Cloud Hands. I’ve had health issues involving weakened immune system and some peripheral neuropathy. Will this practice really heal me?

    Hi, Connie. I will try to answer your question by telling you a little bit about my experience with chi gung. I also have a medical condition that usually compromises the immune system, plus on top of that, I am on a medication that compromises it further. I actually feel that my immune system is fairly strong, stronger than it used to be, and also seems to be a lot stronger than a lot of people I know with the same condition. My health was the main reason I started chi gung and tai chi 13 years ago, and I can say that I have not been disappointed. Can I promise you that you will be healed? I don’t think anyone can make that promise. I really don’t trust anyone or any system that promises that total healing will definitely occur within a certain time frame. I started due to a medical condition, but I continue not only because it has helped and has made me stronger, but because I simply love doing it. There are so many factors, including how seriously you take it, how much time you are willing to put in, and whether or not you find a teacher to help you, or attend seminars that will increase your knowledge and skill. There are lot of “magic cures” out there, and an equal number of quacks with people’s money in their pockets. But if you’re willing to give this an honest try, I predict that you won’t be disappointed. Good luck!

    hi connie

    ive found this work to be extremely useful in managing all sorts of conditions.

    I gotta be honest, though, that I don’t really believe in “healing”, in a sense of coming to some completion or finish.

    I think the deal is, you get to manage your health, it’s never going to be “fixed” or “right” but it can get progressively better, or worse.

    In a sense, death is the healer. No pain, no troubles.

    im in no hurry for that, I can tell you!

    Pain and pleasure are the 2 sides of the coin to having a nervous system. it’s very good to learn to be cool with both.

    so many times, ive seen great improvements in people right after they stop trying to “fix” themselves, and start thinking about how to manage their condition more better.

    also, I found that each of the methods bruce teaches works very well, but when you start to understand the system more like a cycle, then making best use of the different methods gives an even better result.

    for example;

    I tend to practice bagua early in the day, gives me more energy and “go juice”. gets me moving.

    before and after I give tui na treatments, I will do either dragon & tiger or gods chi gung. D& T if I feel like I need my energy moving more, Gods if i feel I need more balance.

    just before bed, my wife and I practice some basic taiji. it makes a big difference in letting go of the stress of the day.

    and if I have some dificult task or something I don’t really want to do, but im gonna anyway, then a little Hsing-I practice really gets me in the get it done mode.

    Before I play music (rock and roll), ill often do some bagua, just free form palm changes, to really loosen me up and get me feeling all creative and ready to flow with the music.

    I could go on, but you get the idea, I hope.

    anyone else had similar experiences?
