Greetings everyone from San Francisco! My name is David, and I am in my fifth year practicing Energy Arts with my instructor Alistair Shanks. Previously, I had over 20 years experience in Japanese Martial Arts, Yoga and Zen meditation, mainly external, and very yang, per my personality.

I came to study Tai Chi in order to learn a lifelong practice for the rest of my life, balance, de-stress, and to heal injuries from contact sports in my youth, and sciatica and neck problems. Energy Gates has been a tremendous practice in helping me sort out my alignments and heal these old injuries.

I have been deepening my practice and am very excited with this opportunity to learn directly from Bruce, and to take my practice to the next level. Cheers!

Hello, my name is Pierre Gravelat and I Hail from Titusville Florida. Originally born in Paris, France, I moved to Florida in 1993 and have now gathered enough sand in my shoes to consider myself a native.
I have practiced Qigong and Taichi for about 4 years, following 20 years of RyuKyu Kempo, self defense and Haganah.
While I was introduced to Qigong through Ryukyu Kempo, I really intensified my practice in early 2011, when confronted with a spinal induced foot drop, and was able to overcome all prognosis.
I have learned from Bruce’s publication for many years, starting with ‘Opening the Energy Gates’ and feel very fortunate that he decided to open this group, as it is difficult for me at best, between my work and family obligations, to attend one of his seminars. This remains on my to do list in the coming years though.
I come to this forum about two months late due to a 6 week battle with sciatica. I will therefore be a little behind in the group participation.

    Hello,

My name is Markus, and I live in the south-western part of Germany.

I’ve been practising Tai Chi and Qi Gong for 14 years now. For a few years I also studied am mix of southern Shaolin styles with a Chinese teacher. From him I also learned his family’s version of Ba Duan Jin, which is quite different from what I have seen elsewhere so far.

His teaching has not been available to me for some years now, and having worked through a thoroughly worthless but expensive “instructor’s course” in Tai Chi of the officially recognized German Association for Tai Chi and Qi Gong (DDQT), I was almost quitting the Martial Arts for competitive weight lifting. Fortunately, I stumbled upon Bruce’s Materials in the internet and now I am hooked again. :-)

Whenever there are Seminars available, I also study the SSBD system of Bruneian silat taught by Maul Mornie.

My spiritual background apart from meditating are also shamanic practises and some forms of western (European) energy work and magic.

At the Moment my Interests lie mainly in developing inner power, meditation skill, and merging my energy work with my martial practice.

    Hi everyone,

I’m Ron living in Hertfordshire, England, originally from Edinburgh in Scotland. I first came across Bruce’s work in the late 90s, and have done standing, dragon and tiger, and the wu style short form, all very badly and since the 1990s none of it with any real commitment of time and effort.

I actually spent a week with Bruce in Crete in mid 2000s, doing taoist meditation and some tai chi. I found him to be awesome. It wasn’t until I left the course that I realised he’d not just been working on a verbal and physical level, but he’d actually been transmitting spiritually.

Anyway. I’m getting older now, and really remember the benefit of the practice I put in the 1990s. I’m also doing the Dragon And Tiger online course with Bill Ryan, and I’m finding that to be really good. The teaching isn’t at all diminished because it’s only online.

Anyway. Hoping to talk more with you all in the coming weeks.

    Ron

Hi all, My name is Ben Flora, I am currently living in Melbourne Australia. Been practicing Dragon and Tiger for a year now and attended Bruce’s last workshop in Sydney. I have been meditating for over 20 years. I taught Calm Abiding meditation at Jamchen Buddhist centre here in Melbourne for a 2 year period. I am looking forward to learning more about the Daoist meditation techniques and how the mind, concentration, chi and the body all fit together. I am also very interested to see if there is any sleep practice in Qigong/Daoism, like the Dream Yoga of Tibetan Buddhism.

Looking forward to learning more and sharing this new journey with everyone.
    Ciao Ben

I am currently studying Tai Chi, Dragon and Tiger and also belong to the meditation circle which I joined last December. I am pretty much a newbie in all these practices but greatly anticipate learning a great deal through this program. I am very happy to meet everyone. : )

I’m Paul, from Central Massachusetts, USA (30 minutes from Worcester). In the 1970’s I took Tai Chi lessons from T. T. Liang in his living room in Boston for a few years. Then I moved to Michigan and studied Aikido for awhile and got involved in Buddhist meditation. After that I moved to Texas and wasn’t able to connect with any group or teacher (unfortunately there was no internet) so any sense of formal practice of any kind just fell by the wayside for over a decade. Restarted meditation practice about 10 years ago, and in the past year have been drawn to Qigong and learning the deeper aspects of Tai Chi and related arts. I am in my 60’s now. Have never studies with Bruce Frantzis but read one of his books a few years ago and he impressed me as genuine. Hoping to learn and apply something useful in the time I have left in this life.

    Aloha,

I live on Maui and I was introduced to Bruce’s teaching a few years ago through a friend. I have taken classes with Kurt here on Maui: Circling Hands, Longevity Breathing, Dragon and Tiger, and the first quarter of short form Wu style. I was very glad to connect to a teacher after 20 years of practicing Tai Chi (Ching Man Cheng short form) and qi gong mostly on my own. I was not sure I would like the online course, but I feel optimistic now. I have been watching Bruce’s recordings for two weeks and only now started to read some of your posts. I am looking forward to getting to know you all.

Just watched the Bonus videos… Very good, I like how Mr Frantzis goes from low common vernacular to polite society vernacular as per ..Take a crap ///excremate///pass.A basic life function but ignored Eat,sleep, eliminate. I like that back and forth for presentation…. a lot of people will go aghast on hard words and miss the Idea presented hence Bang then tame it down……………….. Vid 3 bonus I really liked the Chinese or??? prayer didn’t know the words but it felt good and I noticed Mr Frantzis doing double mind Wow!!!!!. Thanx sorry for the red underline on some words computer is doing that automatically, just read no emphasis ment on my humble babblings Al Ray.
